SALUD General Body Meeting

The School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine Student Government Association is excited to invite you to the SALUD General Student Body Meeting! The mission is to incorporate student involvement of those interested in Latino American health, to improve awareness of health rights, and to lessen the gaps and increase the interaction between students and the Latin American community. It's an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow students, hear about upcoming events, and share your thoughts and ideas. Lunch will be provided. 

CIPR's Fall Series: “Latin America: Between Governability Crises and an Impeachment Trap?” 

The 2023-24 Center for Inter-American Policy and Research Speaker Series: Violence, Inequality and Democracy in the Americas, explores challenges to democratic politics and effective governance in the region. Speakers will present cutting-edge research on the politics of criminal violence and civil conflict, protest movements, militarization, and democratic backsliding in diverse countries of Latin America. The Series engages students, faculty, and community members in dialogue on the most pressing issues facing the region today.

Metamorphosis: The Flight of the Monarch Butterfly

Please join us for an educator workshop with Mexican Visual artist and environmentalist Carmen Parra On October 5, 2023, from 5-7pm at the Mexican Cultural Institute. 
 
Parra is a multidisciplinary artist and environmentalist who was recently named Creadora Emerita, one of the highest national honors for a visual artist, by the Mexican government. She will be honored as the Godmother of this year's Butterflies in the Pass Monarch Festival in Pass Christian, MS.
