James D. Huck Jr., Administrative Associate Professor and Assistant Director for Graduate Programs at the Stone Center for Latin American Studies, was honored with the 2023 Student/Trainee Research Mentoring Award at the Tulane Research, Scholarship, and Artistic Achievement Awards Ceremony on Friday November 3, 2023.
The accolade, presented during a ceremony dedicated to faculty and their groundbreaking accomplishments, recognizes Huck's exceptional dedication to research mentor, underscoring his dedicated work for our Latin American Studies students.
In addition to Huck, several Stone Center for Latin American Studies faculty members were recognized for their contributions as well. Among our affiliate faculty were Laila Hlass from the School of Law and Margarita Jover from the School of Architecture, who both received the 2023 Spirit of Tulane Research Award. Wayne Reed, Murchison-Mallory Professor of the School of Science and Engineering, was the recipient of the 2023 Entrepreneurship Award. Dawn Wesson, who works in the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, was awarded the 2023 IP Innovator Award. Michael Burke, the Earl P. and Ethel B. Koerner Chair of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, the Charles Atwood Professorship, and the Lawrence Martin Chair at the A.B. Freeman School of Business, was presented with the 2023 Convergence Award. Additionally, Yuri Herrera-Gutierrez, who is a Stone Center core faculty from the School of Liberal Arts, was recognized with the 2023 Publication Awards.
The ceremony showcased the achievements of 27 award recipients across 15 categories, honoring faculty's dedication to impactful research that bridges academic and societal needs. As the Tulane community comes together to honor these exemplary faculty members, it underscores the university's dedication to fostering an environment of intellectual excellence and impactful research.
