The goal of the meeting is to discuss teaching and research to prevent racism in healthcare facilities in the region from a Latin American social medicine perspective. This region is known for its vast ethnic diversity and significant inequities in health outcomes that frequently correlate with social and ethnic backgrounds. Racist practices in healthcare facilities are widespread, resulting in unsafe and disrespectful healthcare delivery or even complete neglect. Such discrimination leads to differential health outcomes between racialized population groups, such as Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities, and those who perpetuate discriminatory practices. Other leaders from Latin American public health schools and programs will attend.
