Zemurray-Stone Post-Doctoral Fellows Published Article on Alfredo Massi Collection at Tulane's Latin American Library
We are excited to announce the recent publication of an article co-authored by Zemurray-Stone Post-Doctoral Fellows Olivia Cosentino and Alejandro Kelly-Hopfenblatt. The article "El archivo Alfredo Massi y los inicios de cine en El Salvador" explores the Alfredo A. Massi Collection housed at The Latin American Library at Tulane University. Alejandro Kelly-Hopfenblatt shared some words on the process of writing this article:
"Last year, with Olivia Cosentino, we taught a course on Latin American Cinema at Tulane. Among the various activities we did, we had the opportunity to visit the Latin American Library to explore collections related to cinema. During this visit, we learned about the Alfredo Massi Collection, which gathers documentation and films from one of the pioneers of cinema in El Salvador. We were invited to write an article for Vivomatografías: Revista sobre precine y cine silente en Latinoamérica after sharing this discovery with colleagues. The article provides an overview of Massi's figure and the collection. The article aims to bring visibility to this archive, encouraging future researchers to engage with it and contribute to a deeper understanding of Central American cinema."
