Recognizing Dedication: Tulane Inducts Suyapa Inglés and Judith Maxwell as Honorary Alumni

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Asssitant Director of Administration Suyapa Inglés and Stone Center core faculty member, Louise Rebecca Schawe and Williedell Schawe Memorial Professor of Linguistics and Anthropology, Director of Native American Studies, and Director of the Mayan Language Institute: Oxlajuj Aj, Judith Maxwell, for their recent induction into Tulane Honorary Alumni. The ceremony took place on the evening of Wednesday, April 2, at the Bea Field Alumni House, in what was a delightful reception celebrating their contributions.

The Tulane Alumni Association awards honorary membership to individuals within the Tulane community who have provided exemplary service to the university for 25 years or more. This recognition is a testament to the profound dedication and impact of both Judith Maxwell and Suyapa Inglés.

Sue joined Tulane in 1982, and later became part of the Stone Center for Latin American Studies in 1991—where she has remained a cornerstone ever since. As the Assistant Director of Administration, she oversees financial operations and human resources, ensuring the smooth functioning of the Center's administrative processes. Yet, anyone who has had the privilege of working with Sue knows that her contributions go far beyond her title.
