Tulane University School of Law Professor and affiliate to the Stone Center for Latin American Studies Laila Hlass recently contributed an article titled Our immigration system must treat immigrant children as children to The Hill. In the article, Hlass discusses the current administration’s role in the mass detention of immigrant youth. Hlass notes how placing children in dentition centers results in negative long-term impacts on health and well-being. Hlass concludes the opinion piece by remarking on the roles of local and state governments in assuring that children’s rights in a court of law are maintained.
