We are excited to announce that our Fall 2020 Latinx Speaker Series is available on YouTube.

During the past fall semester, Professor Carolina Caballero of the Cuban and Caribbean Studies Insititute organized and developed a fascinating virtual speaker series as part of her class, Introduction to Latinx Studies. This series was designed with the intention to share and honor the diversity and contributions of the local New Orlean Latinx community.

The speaker series was developed and executed in the unprecedented era of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this way, it was created to accommodate new norms of social distancing and pandemic precautions. While COVID-19 conditions surely provided many logistical obstacles to the execution of this project, it also allowed a variety of speakers and thinkers from around the world to interconnect and share ideas with one another.

The series includes a diverse roster of speakers from the local Latinx community, from musicians, to academics, to editors-in-chief. These talks were recorded by Stone Center staff and uploaded to the SCLAS YouTube channel for public access.
