We are pleased to announce a presentation by Nenetzen Saavedra-Lara from the National Institute of Public Health of Mexico (INSP), who will introduce an online course developed through collaboration between INSP and the Center for Health Equity in Latin America at the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University.
About the Course
This innovative course addresses the multiple dimensions of racism embedded within healthcare systems across Latin America. Participants will engage with critical content exploring:
- Historical forms of racism and their lasting impact on health systems
- Institutional racism in healthcare delivery and policy
- Interpersonal racism in clinical and professional settings
- Internalized racism and its effects on health professionals and communities
The course provides participants with tools to evaluate and implement strategies to promote anti-racist practice and advance health equity throughout the region.
Course Structure
- Format: 6-week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)
- Certification: Joint certification offered by the National Institute of Public Health of Mexico and the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University upon completion
