We are sorry to inform you that the Bilingual Family Fun Time at Central City Library programmed for September 17, has been canceled. We look forward to seeing you at the next edition, on October 15, when we'll build a Día de los Muertos altar together
Our hugely successful Martes en Mid-City has a new name and a new location! Now called "Bilingual Family Fun Time," this program continues to provide hang-out time for Spanish-speaking and bilingual families with free activities, snacks, and books. Each monthly gathering features a unique cultural activity, door prize book giveaways, and opportunities for families to connect with their community.
In addition, Americas Award books will be featured. The Americas Award celebrates YA and Children’s literature that portrays Latin America, The Caribbean, and Latinx culture in the United States with an authentic lens. This program is planned for families with children ages 6 - 12 and their siblings.
Upcoming events:
October 15 - Día de los Muertos altar building with artist Cynthia Ramírez
November 19 - Guatemalan Weaving with Ixnal Cuma Chavez
December 17 - Central American Tamales with Nadina Melara
Sponsored by the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library and the Latin American Resource Center at the Stone Center for Latin American Studies at Tulane University.
