The Stone Center for Latin American Studies is an institutional coordinator of the Américas Award, established by the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP) in 1993. The award recognizes U.S. published (including Puerto Rico) works of fiction, poetry, folklore, non-fiction, and works in translation that authentically and engagingly portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinx communities in the United States. The Américas Award review committee chooses up to two annual book awards, along with a list of honor and commended titles, which offer educators valuable material for classroom integration.
