Come join the Stone Center for Latin American Studies for a lively gathering involving music, food, and community! We are also fortunate enough to be having DJ LevaDura be joining us for this event. DJ LevaDura, a.k.a. Diego Martin-Perez (he/him) is a Puerto Rican living outside of the archipelago he calls home. Through food and music, he has been able to stay connected to Boriken, and also to draw cultural bridges between all of the people that share space in the planet that can feel so immense and divided. For 10 years, Diego produced and hosted a Latin, Caribbean, and Tropical music radio program for UL-Lafayette’s NPR-affiliated radio station. This project led to lectures, workshops, and guest appearances in different academic, and cultural arenas. He is also a renowned bread baker, a bicycle mechanic, as well as a not-so-renowned skateboarder. All are welcomed to attend.
