Congratulations to CIPR’s post-docs who, upon completing their time at CIPR, have all accepted positions are other universities.

Maria Akchurin has accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Sociology at Loyola University in Chicago, starting in fall 2019. At Loyola, she will continue her research on water politics, as well as teaching courses on environmental and urban sociology.

Christopher Chambers-Ju will be a visiting assistant professor in the political science department at the College of the Holy Cross, a Jesuit liberal arts college in Worcester, MA. In the fall, he will teach courses on social movements in Latin America and also on broader comparative themes of regime type and economic development. In the spring, he will teach a course on the politics of education, that is in line with his research.

Following this year as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Center for Inter-American Policy & Research, Katie Jensen joins the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an Assistant Professor of Sociology and International Studies. At Madison, her teaching and research contributions will center on race, ethnography, and forced migration in international perspective.

We wish them the best and though we’re sad to see them go, we are also looking forward to our new group of CIPR post-doctoral fellows who will be starting in July.
