The Geovane Santos Trio will play a tribute to late Brazilian multi-instrumentalist and composer, Antônio Carlos Jobim at Snug Harbor. Santos is a student in the Ph.D. Program in Latin American Studies published a tribute album in 2019, entitled “Jobim. After completing his Bachelor of Music in Brazil and playing in several regarded bands and orchestras there, meeting an encounter with New Orleans guitarist Carl LeBlanc convinced Santos to move to this city, where he earned his Master's in Music Composition at the University of New Orleans under Steve Masakowski and Brian Seeger. Santos won the 2017 Louis Armstrong Jazz Composition Award through the ASCAP Foundation. As a local New Orleans musician, Santos utilizes his guitar and his voice to bring Brazilian music to American audiences, concentrating on original compositions, Bossa Nova and MPB repertoires. He published a tribute album, entitled “Jobim", in 2019.
