Tulane University’s Center for Public Service is pleased to announce their first workshop the Fall ’10 semester. On Tuesday, September 28, 2010 Dr. Jimmy Huck will share his thoughts and provide useful tips on “Teaching Foreign Cultures through the Local Lens.” Refreshments will be provided.

This workshop is intended for faculty members interested in teaching service-learning, especially in the context of foreign cultures and identities. Dr. Huck will present his ideas of making useful connections between local culture, politics, society and global issues.

Dr. Huck is associated with the Stone Center for Latin American Studies and teaches a variety of courses related to Latin America. In 2009, he was awarded the Excellence in Service Learning Award, given each year by the Provost’s office. In the current academic year, Dr. Huck serves as the Public Service Faculty Scholar.
