Original Curriculum Supplements for Your Classroom

For many years LARC has produced a variety of print and slide materials available for purchase. In an effort to make these materials affordable and more readily available, we have begun the process of digitizing these curriculum resources. Eventually, all Resource Center publications will be available for free in electronic format.  Please check back periodically for updates.

Items currently available for free download include:

Curriculum Units

  • Beyond the Book- A curriculum guide to Mayeros: A Yucatec Maya Family.
  • Environmental Literacy Across the Curriculum-Costa Rica - This curriculum packet, developed by teachers in 1997, includes activities, text, 130 slides and more for the implementation of environmental science as an interdisciplinary unit.
  • La tierra mágica: Una exploración cultural de la América - A resource guide on Latin American culture, designed to be used in classes of Spanish for U.S. students at the advanced high school or intermediate to advanced college level. The course was developed with three primary goals in mind:
    (1) to introduce students to basic information about aspects of history, sociology, and the humanities that influence life in contemporary Latin America; (2) to help students develop a global perspective on social, political and cultural factors common to peoples throughout the world; (3) to promote the development of communicative skills in students of Spanish.
  • Land of Diversity - A comprehensive high school social studies course on Latin America. Completely updated in 2004 with new statistics, links, current trends, including a new unit on Free Trade in the Americas.
  • Los tres grandes - A complete lecture and slide show featuring the works of Rivera, Siqueros and Orozco.
  • *NEW* Ptanos: Learning about Bananas - A curriculum guide developed by a select group of teachers in 2005 to be used with the film, Banana Split, winner of LARC's Biennial Latin American Environmental Media Festival. This curriculum guide was designed to be used for K-12 although most units are developed for high school. The guide addresses the economics, geography, and social issues behind the trade of bananas throughout the Americas. Check out the film through our Lending Library.
