This Wednesday at 6 pm, please join the Newcomb Art Gallery for Social
Expressionism: The Art of Luis Cruz Azaceta, a lecture by Alejandro Anreus,
Associate Professor of Art History and Latin American Studies at William
Paterson University and the author of Orozco in Gringoland and The Social
and The Real.

Luis Cruz Azaceta was born in Cuba in 1942 but has been resident of New
Orleans for the past seventeen years. His works have been shown at the
Museum of Modern Art, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, the Metropolitan
Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. His exhibit
“Swimming to Havana,” is on view at the New Orleans Museum of Art through
March 28.

The lecture will be held in the Freeman Auditorium of the Woldenberg Art
Center and is free and open the public.

On-campus parking is available after 5 pm. Street parking is available on
neighboring streets, Broadway and Audubon being the closest.

This summer, join us for La hora del cuenta bilingual readings series at the Pebbles Centers of the New Orleans Public Libraries!

On the first and last Saturday of every month, we will read a bilingual book at the Algiers Regional Library and the Children’s Resource Center Library beginning on Saturday April 28 until Saturday, August 25. Children and parents welcome!
