Tulane University to Host South-Central Conference on Mesoamerica

The 8th annual South-Central Conference on Mesoamerica will be hosted by Tulane University in New Orleans from Friday, October 13th to Sunday, October 15th. The South-Central Conference on Mesoamerica is a regional conference that provides a venue to bring together scholars in the fields of archaeology, ethnography, art history, and other sub-fields of anthropology to share information and interpretations on current research focused on the cultures of the Mesoamerican region.

The conference is free and open to the public.

This year’s keynote address will be given on October 13th at 5:30 PM by Dr. John W. Hoopes in a presentation titled, Isthmo-Colombian Archaeology and Mesoamerica: A Perspective from Central American’s “Deep South.” Dr. Hoopes is a professor of Anthropology at the University of Kansas and is visiting Tulane University this fall as a Richard E. Greenleaf Distinguished Visiting Professor. Read the entire abstract here.

The deadline for abstract submissions and student scholarships is September 11, 2017.
