LARC Master Teacher to visit Colombia through Teachers for Global Classrooms

March 22nd, 2017

Aaron Forbes, a LARC Master Teacher, and a Spanish Teacher at Morris Jeff Community School will travel to Colombia for three weeks through the Teachers for Global Classrooms program. In Colombia, Aaron will learn about the country, its education system, and more. The program in Colombia builds on a series of online and in-person programming focused on providing context for visits abroad, globalizing classrooms, and diversifying the curriculum. After the trip to Colombia, Aaron will create an education guide based on his experiences to help other local educators globalize their classrooms.

The program, funded by the U.S. State Department, is a year-long professional development opportunity which aims to bring international perspectives to schools through experience abroad and collaboration with teachers in other countries.

Aaron learned about the program at the 2015 Global Education Forum, a trip funded through a competitive professional development grant through Tulane University’s Stone Center for Latin American Studies.
