Día de los niños/Día de los libros is just around the corner!  This year Día, celebrated on April 30th, turns 20!  Día is a celebration of reading which emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds and encourages exposure to diverse books, languages, and cultures.

The Pebbles Center is celebrating Día on April 26th at 4:30. We will be reading Salsa by Jorge Argueta and illustrated by Duncan Tonatiuh and Guacamole by Jorge Argueta and illustrated by Margarita Sada as well as enjoying delicious snacks and music.  Also check out the New Orleans Public Library’s other Día events at branches around the city.

Also check out the Día book lists – one to encourage STEAM education and one to celebrate the 20th anniversary.  The lists include many books by Américas Book Award winning authors!  These are great resources for the classroom for children of all ages!
