Exhibit description:
This exhibition features a selection of textiles and photographs from a collection recently donated to the Middle American Research Institute at Tulane University. The collector, Robert Freund, traveled extensively in Mexico for thirty years painstakingly documenting the clothing from indigenous communities across the country. This exhibition focuses on the woman‘€™s huipil as a key marker of identity. The pieces selected represent a wide range of towns and cultures to showcase the beauty and diversity of indigenous clothing worn in Mexico.
