Historical Perspective on the Consulate of Mexico and Culture Promotion

Justin Taffet and Zach Lipschutz explore the presence of the Consulate of Mexico in New Orleans, historical connections between New Orleans and Mexico, and the role of the consulate in New Orleans. The Consulate of Mexico in New Orleans, founded in 1824, is the oldest Mexican Consulate in the United States. Taffet and Lipschutz explore the role of the Consulate in promoting Mexican culture in New Orleans and the historical connections between Mexico and New Orleans. New Orleans and Mexico have a long history of interaction due to the trade between the two regions.
