10th Annual Tulane Maya Symposium

February 22nd, 2013 - February 24th, 2013

The Middle American Research Institute, Center for Inter-American Policy Research, Stone Center for Latin American Studies, and Far Horizons are proud to present the 10th Annual Maya Symposium and Workshop. This year’s symposium, “Kaanal: The Snake Kingdom of the Classic Maya”, will explore the kingdom of Dzibanche and Calakmul. The symposium will explore the rise, rule, and fall of the Kaan kings through presentations of recent archaeological and epigraphic evidence.

The keynote speech, by Peter Mathews of LaTrobe University, is free and open to the public. The keynote will take place at the New Orleans Museum of Art at 6 pm on Friday, February 22nd.
