CEQ Results Featured in World Bank's "Inequality in Focus" Newsletter
July 3rd, 2012
In the latest issue of the World Bank's newsletter "Inequality in Focus," Professor Nora Lustig has published an article, "Taxes, Transfers, and Income Redistribution in Latin America." The article features the results of research being done by the Commitment to Equity (CEQ) initiative, a joint project of the Inter-American Dialogue and Tulane University. The research being done by the CEQ teams in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay explores how much reduction in inequality and poverty Latin America accomplishes through taxes and transfers and also how progressive revenue-collection and social-spending patterns are.

Two-week Public Service summer program in Ecuador

Ecuador: Tropical Field Biology and Conservation

All majors are welcome to apply to spend two weeks in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador. Ecuador: Tropical Field Biology and Conservation gives students the opportunity to apply the theory and knowledge they have acquired in the classroom to the real world. Students will travel with Dr. Karubian and Dr. Duraes to Ecuador for a two-week intensive field course. While on the course, students will experience first-hand the challenges and rewards of conducting field research and implementing conservation activities in tropical environments. These activities will take place within a context of community engagement based on active collaboration and interaction with Ecuadorian local residents in a variety of contexts.
